FAIRSAHEL

Fostering an Agroecological Intensification to improve farms Resilience in Sahel
The FairSahel project aims at developing agroecological solutions that meet farmers’ constraints through a participatory approach. For this a specific diagnosis has been conducted with local actors in each Sahelian context, to identify which agroecological levers could contribute to the efficiency and adaptation of production processes (sustainable fertility and soil management, functional biodiversity, optimization of agriculture-livestock interactions).
The project works at optimizing interactions between research and development institutions to co-create useful knowledge with farmers, to promote the co-design and the dissemination of innovative agroecological systems. It also implements a multi-scale action, at parcel, community and territory levels, developing specific multi-stakeholder arenas, to overcome the diverse problems and lock-ins hindering agroecological transitions. Specific advocacy products are also been developed at national and subregional levels to feed policy makers’ decisions in order to support agroecological agriculture.
