HealthyFoodAfrica

Improving nutrition in Africa by strengthening the diversity, sustainability, resilience and connectivity of food systems

HealthyFoodAfrica (HFA) aims to increase the resilience of food systems, and to link food production to nutrition performance, thereby increasing the range and quality of food products for healthy diets. To achieve this HFA works in 10 locations in six African countries, in so called Food System Labs (FSLs), each with its own focus and goal to tackle context specific challenges in the local food system. We engage with farmers, food processors, retailers, civil society organisations (CSOs), policymakers and local experts, to create and test innovative technologies, practices and governance arrangements that contribute to a more sustainable, resilient and healthy food systems.

Through this approach HFA covers a wide spectrum of food systems and contexts in East, West and Southern Africa. At the project level we analyse and compile the insights from the FSLs into scalable pathways for sustainable food system transformation.
